The swing to mirrorless cameras with small fast prime lenses has really caught on in the photography world. The glass is so fast these days the perceived need for a flash seems to have diminished to some extent. There are still places where the careful use of a flash can really make a difference.
Here Thomas’ arm is just a little over exposed. I’ve left it in for illustration. The line between the right amount of flash and too much light is a fine one but the careful use of a flash can do a lot to enhance a picture. I probably don’t use the flash enough.
This final picture is good in my opinion. Enough to get rid of most of the shadows but soft enough to look natural.
Thomas had a great day at the beach. We all did.
